Richard Tuttle (The Pump, 2008)
As early as in the late 1960s Tuttle had already realized several works of art in public spaces but had then, like many other artists, withdrawn into interior spaces, into the “White Cube.” For ART AND THE CITY Tuttle, for the first time in a long while, is once again placing a work outside. The Pump (2008) turns out to be a sensitively balanced connection of diverging sculptural languages—a sculpture which ponders sculpture.
